PASSIVE VOICE



Passive Voice

Kalimat pasif berasal dari kalimat aktif yang dipasifkan sehingga subyek kalimat pada kalimat pasif menjadi dikenai pekerjaan dan berawalan DI… atau TER…..

Syarat kalimat aktif dapat dipasifkan jika kalimat tersebut mempunyai kata kerja TRANSITIF (memerlukan obyek) tetapi kalau kata kerjanya INTRANSITIF maka kalimat tersebut tidak dapat dipasifkan.

Ciri: Be/tobe  +  Verb III/ed

Examples:
1.    Simple Present Tense
S + tobe (am, is, are) + Verb III + by O
i.e. Active Voice: I bring a bag today
          Passive Voice: A bag is brought by me today.

2.    Simple Past Tense
S + tobe (was, were) + Verb III + by O
i.e. AV: He bought the book from Social Agency yesterday.
     PV: The book was bought by him from Social Agency yesterday.

3.    Simple Future Tense
S + modal (shall/will, etc) + be + Verb III + by O

i.e. AV: I shall weld the work piece tomorrow morning.
     PV: The work piece will be welded tomorrow morning.

4.    Present Continuous Tense
S + tobe (am, is, are) + being + Verb III + by O
i.e. AV: I am learning English now.
     PV: English is being learned by me now.

5.    Past Continuous Tense
S + tobe(was, were) + being + Verb III = by O
i.e. AV: The foreign tourists were attending to the festival of Yogyakarta.
     PV: The festival of Yogyakarta was being attended by foreign tourists.

6.    Present Perfect Tense
S = have/has + been + Verb III + by O
i.e. AV: Our factory has produced many tons of sugar per day.
     PV: Many tons of sugar have been produced by our factory per day.

7.    Past Perfect Tense
S + had + been + Verb III + by O
i.e. AV: Adam had cut those wires
     PV: Those wires had been cut by Adam

8.    Future Perfect Tense
S + modal (shall/will, etc) + have + been + Verb III + by O
i.e. AV: The director will finish the job.
     PV: The job will be finished by the Director.

9.    Past Future Tense
S  + modal (should/would, etc) + be + Verb III + by O
i.e. AV: My friend should borrow a big car.
     PV: A big car should be borrowed by my friend.
