Text 1.
______________
It is very common in America to give tips to the server when you dine out. Most American restaurants do not add a service charge to the bill, therefore, it is expected that customer will leave a tip for the server. In some cases, when there are more than eight people in a group, an 18% service charge or gratuity is included in the bill. Otherwise it is up to you how much you leave as a tip. However, a common tip is equal to 15% of the total bill. Some customers leave larger tips, like 20% when they think the service is excellent. If the service was poor, then they may leave a smaller tip, about 10%.
There are other places where customers are expected to give tips, such as hotels, salons, and bars. The general rule is to tip approximately 15% of the bill. In situations where there is no bill, the tip may range from $1 to $5, depending on the place and how good the service is. For example, if you stay in a four-star hotel, you are expected to give a larger tip to the bell boy compared to when you stay in a motel.
