Malin Kundang was a poor boy from West Sumatra. He lived with his mother Mande Rubiah. His mother loved him very much. When he was fifteen years old, he asked his mother for permission to work on a ship. He sailed abroad for many years but never sent any news to his mother. His mother longed for him.
He worked very hard so that he became a successful man. He was very rich and he had his own ship. Because of his wealth he became proud and arrogant. He event forgot his mother.
